CI Theme:
This semester's (summer 2021) CI theme is "Digital Citizenship". Digital citizenship refers to a person that uses technology, mainly information technology to put in the world to be a good citizen of the world to assign in politics and society and government also. According to authors Tolbert, Mossberg, and McNeil, those who regularly and effectively use the Internet, or digital technology, are entitled to digital citizenship. In other words, digital citizenship means responsible use of information technology to socially engage with different people. That is to use the technology by the rules and regulations. There are 9 components to digital citizenship. These are Digital Access, Digital Commerce, Digital Communication, Digital Literacy, Digital Etiquette, Digital Law, Digital Rights, and Responsibilities, Digital Health and Wellness, and Digital Security.
Group Theme:
We have selected the theme of our artwork according to the Curriculum Integration (CI) theme prescribed by ULAB's Department of Media Studies and Journalism. Our theme is we are Trapped within Digitized. In the current era of digitalization, we are addicted to digital devices. Especially our young society is becoming more addicted to digital. We can say, now digital devices are controlling our young society. As a result, their creative thinking and mental development are being hampered. Young people are moving away from their normal nature, becoming addicted to digital devices and this digital technology is slowly blocking the activities of all of us.
We have chosen this theme for our artwork because people are now completely addicted to digitization. Day by day it is becoming almost impossible to imagine a moment without a digital device. As if digital media is driving us. So we want to send a message to people about the bad aspects of digitalization through our work. We want to present our artwork to make people aware of the negativity of digitalization.

In the current situation of digitalization, our young society is being enslaved by digital devices. To show this situation, we decided to do four performance arts. The first member will perform Webbed in digitized, the second member electrified life, the third member shackled life and I will perform hate speech everywhere. But since there is no complete resemblance to the CI theme, Sir advised me to change or omit the Performance Art, and the second member's the Electrified Life Performance is also asked to change or omit. At Sir’s suggestion, we changed the subject of my performance as discussed with the group members and omitted the Electrified Life Performance. Then we decided to, the first member of the team would connect the wire of the Wi-Fi router to his body and place a router on his head. Which will give the message to the viewers that we are stuck in the fascination of the internet world. Our second performance will be, one of our members will have his body and hands chained with shackles and continue to use a mobile phone. Which will give a message about how digital devices are binding us and our time by their chains. And the last performance will be to show that we are entangled with digitization. Here I will attach the wire of the Wi-Fi router to the body and continue to play video games with my hands tied to the joystick wire. Which will send a message to the viewers about getting addicted to digital devices. In this way, we will try to convey the message through our performance arts of how digitalization is forcing us to enslave it.
Production:
The CI theme of this semester is Digital Citizenship. We plan to do our artwork based on this theme. But because of the Corona epidemic, we had no chance to get together. So we plan to get our work done from our respective places. That's why we choose performance art. Before starting work, we divide each group member's work into separate sections and determine the content of each individual's performance. I have decided to do a performance art to highlight our “entangled in digitalization”. First I made a video of my own in which I was able to highlight the addiction to digitalization but failed to fully highlight the art of performance. Sir told me to redo part of my work. So we decided to do the work in a new way after discussing it with the team members. This time I took the help of my one school friend to make the video. I went to his house to record the video.
To do this performance art I use Wi-Fi router wire, Joystick, Bluetooth headphones, desktop computers, and desktop table sets. At first, I wrapped Wi-Fi router wire all over my body. Then I play FIFA 19 video games with headphones on my ear. I used a joystick to play Fifa 19 and wrapped my arms with the joystick wire. My friend then recorded the video on my mobile at that moment. The video is captured from a few angles to illustrate the addiction to digitalization and I shouted gooooal.. a few times while playing games.
Then I upload the video to the drive. The rest of the group members also made videos of their performance art (webbed in digitized & shackled in digitized) and uploaded them to drive. Then one of our group members made a full video by combining everyone's videos. We use background music in the video to create a beautiful atmosphere and to attract the audience. When the video is made we show the video to Sir in class. Sir, after making the final decision, we upload the video on Facebook and YouTube for display. This is how the production work ends. We had to face some problems to do the job. But we are happy to have completed the work successfully in the end.
Exhibition:
We did our show through Facebook and YouTube. The video was released for display on Facebook and YouTube on September 21, 2021. Anyone connected to the online platform can see our exhibition. So we consider everyone connected to the online platform as our audience. If the exhibition had been held at the Shilpakala Academy or a permanent campus instead of an online platform, we would not have been able to garner much support from the audience. Because a few visitors to the Art Academy or permanent campus could see our work. But showing the exhibition on online platforms allows people worldwide to see our work and give us their valuable feedback. However, If the exhibition was held at Shilpakala Academy or permanent campus, we would have the opportunity to speak directly to the spectators and get their opinion immediately. This was also helpful in increasing our practical knowledge. However, Since we have CI-themed digital citizenship this semester, I think our work has been worthwhile as the exhibition is on an online platform.

The artwork was awesome and has an extraordinary vision in it. It gives a clear view to the audience about the technological revolution which is making people addicted and ruining life.

I think your work is great and if you want to suggest something to make the work more visible I will suggest that you do it by showing the harmful side of these technological devices more which will make the video more beneficial for people.

After seeing your work I got a message. That's why we are trapped inside this digitalization. In my personal life, I am so addicted to Facebook and gaming. Apart from my study and clinical practice I find some free time to scroll on my feed. After watching this video I really can relate. It wasn't very difficult to understand. In the very first opening, I can understand what is the theme of this video & what is the purpose of this video.

The message I get is- this digitalization is actually eating our precious time & mind. We are addicted like drugs to this social media. But it is high time we prevent ourselves from taking this drug.

This was kinda creative I think. The way we are trapped within a router, computer & phone was interpersonally connected. Without WiFi networks, I can't even think about my single day. But the effort behind this message is huge. It is like using a thorn to remove a thorn.

Yes, I have found this message in this artwork. Our generation is using different kinds of electronic divides Which are damaging their brain neurons. It has both physical & psychological side effects. We are developing depression through it. Our limbs are getting stuck due to less mobilization of it which can cause early osteopetrosis. The side effects are slow that is why we are not aware of this on that level. It is high time we use our brain not to win the video game but to win the game of life. This video can help to remind us once again, it can give us a signal that we need to stop, we need to minimize this practice. This video really pushed me to think about what am I doing, why am I doing it. Overall this artwork was excellent I must say, But it would be nice to be able to add some more features to inform the new generation about the current situation. Which will give them a clearer idea of the harmful aspects of digitalization.
